I am a game developer and a 3D artist. Surprise?
Roughly 4-5 years ago (as of 2024) I had begun playing around with GameMaker Studio 2, an excellent 2D game engine. I had made quite a few little prototype games in it to get used to game development, but in the end I only released one game, which was a very simple remake of Pong.
After that, I begun switching to a 3D engine. While I had used Unity from time to time, it never really stuck as much as Unreal Engine did. I have so many unfinished and early-stage projects there, which all fell victim to the worst plague afflicting many indie developers: procrastination.
Then, I began using Godot. This engine stuck with me the most because of its smooth, streamlined design and node system; making games in it felt very easy, fast and rewarding, and they ran smoothly without cluttering my hard drive.
I like making games. I use Godot and Unreal Engine 5.
(Also, just as a side note, I use Blender for my 3D models, and Substance Painter for texturing them.)
At the moment, I am working on a first-person action puzzle / metroidvania game that takes a lot of inspiration from Metroid Prime and its successors, as well as other exploration-based games (e.g., Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Ori and the Blind Forest, Hollow Knight, etc., all of which are 2D, but rich in exploration and progression.)
Right now I am pretty early in development, so a playtesting demo may not be available for a while, unfortunately. On the bright side, I have been making a lot of progress these past few months! Be sure to keep an eye out for updates on it.
